Setting You up for Financial Freedom, Whatever That Means for You
You didn’t wake up one morning saying you need a financial plan. You stumbled into worries that made you want a financial planner.
Let’s dive into those worries.
Where are you today?
Where do you want to go?
How do you get there?
We’ll address your top priorities and concerns. Then, we’ll analyze your financial picture to ensure you have clarity and confidence in your future.
When circumstances call for updated financial direction:
Maybe you’ve been handling your family finances on your own until now.
But things are getting more complicated. Your 401k is getting larger, the time to tap into your investments is getting closer, and the stakes feel a lot bigger. You’re worried you’re missing something.
Maybe your current financial advisor is creating doubt.
The fees you’re paying seem unreasonable and they are not addressing all of your concerns. Sometimes it even feels like they’re trying to sell you something.
Maybe you’re part of the “sandwich generation”.
You’re dealing with aging parents and raising your own family, while also managing your busy career. It feels like there just isn’t enough time in the day to deal with the financial aspects of it all.
Creating Your
Financial Roadmap
-
The initial kickoff meeting* is where we’ll get to know each other, gather information, and discuss and agree on priorities.
-
Get on Track: For about the first six months, we’ll meet once every month or so for a deep dive across all aspects of your financial life. We’ll discuss the pros and cons of every idea and strategy to select the right path for you and your family.
-
Keep on Track: We’ll continue to meet throughout the year to monitor and maintain your plan so we can adjust and adapt to changing circumstances. Your life will continue to evolve, as will the world around us.
-
Continued scheduled meetings will allow for ongoing** monitoring and review of your plan. Twice yearly meetings will help you address any changes that affect your financial life. Additional interactions will occur as needs arise.
*Meetings will be held primarily on a virtual basis—but I’m happy to set up an occasional in-person meeting if you’re local to Northern Delaware! **Project-based engagements consisting of meetings over a 2-4 month period are available for those who do not feel the need for ongoing counsel.
Your Financial Problems,
My Expertise, One Exceptional Value
100% flat-fee financial planning means you pay one set fee for financial advice and services.
i am flat-fee.
Massive value - or let’s say goodbye
You are not locked into any commitment—you can cancel service anytime if you feel I am no longer providing value.
AUM means your financial advisor manages your assets, such as investments, and charges a fee based on a percentage of the total value of those assets.
AUM charges based on the amount of money you have, not the amount of expertise provided.
My take: Advising on $2 million vs $1 million doesn't double the work. So it shouldn’t be double the cost.
*Assets Under Management
I AM NOT AUM*.
You've DIYed your finances and gained a lot of experience. I help you see what you don't know. I don't take control of assets. I don't move your money around. You pay me for my advice. Control is yours.
I AM ADVICE-ONLY.
My investment approach:
I am strongly biased towards the low cost, tax-efficiency, and simplicity of passive index funds. If you are looking for a stock-picker or someone to just focus on investment advice, I’m not your guy.
Fee-based and fee-only models are not the same.
Fee-based advisors can receive commissions or other compensation from financial products they recommend and upsell to clients. This means that the advisor may have a financial incentive to recommend certain products.
My take: I won’t sell you what you don’t need. Getting you to financial freedom is my only goal when making suggestions.
I AM NOT Fee-Based*
Transparent fees:
ONGOING PLANNING:
$5,700 per year in most cases (billed monthly), but can range from $3,300-$8,400 depending on complexity.
Initial fee: $2,500, but can range between $1,500 and $4,000.
PROJECT-BASED PLANNING:
$4,000-$6,500 for most, but can range from $1,200-$10,000 depending on scope and complexity.
It’s time to optimize your finances to reach your goals.
The complexities of life require an individualized approach to personal finances.
Through decades of work with clients, I’ve seen the value in comprehensive financial planning. I want to provide a place for you to turn when you’re unsure of the financial next steps to give you peace of mind for your future.
I’m building the kind of firm I would hire if I was looking for an advisor.
By leaving my former position I’ve been able to dive deeper with a more select number of families to provide massive, long-term value, rather than one-off financial fixes across hundreds of clients while constantly having to meet sales goals.
By earning my Masters in Financial Planning I’ve been able to strengthen my strategies and knowledge of financial planning in order to provide value to my clients in every stage of their financial life.
Giving back through philanthropy and community involvement.
In my own life, strategic financial planning has also allowed me to find my passion for giving back through philanthropic pursuits.
By working with organizations such as the Rotary Club of Wilmington, Delaware Community Foundation, Westside Family Healthcare, Delaware Theatre Company, and New Castle County Head Start, I uncovered a desire to find ways to make my financial plan better align with the things that matter to me.
My goal is to help you align your finances with what lies ahead, so you can keep the focus on what’s important.
